How much do Lessons cost?
Everyone's first lesson is free! After that, each lesson is only $1.00! We also offer semester passes for $15.00.
Where is Studio B?
Studio B is located upstairs in the Money Recreation Center at Abilene Christian University! Studio B is across from the track on the left. When in doubt, follow the music or ask a Rec Center employee!
What should I wear?
Tuesday nights are relaxed as far as outfits go! People generally wear jeans or skirts and T-Shirts. Shoes should be comfortable and have soft/slick bottoms (Keds work well). If your shoes have too much grip, taping the soles with masking tape makes dancing easier!
What is the Bugle?
The Bugle is a weekly newsletter sent out by ACU Swing Cats! It contains information on upcoming events as well as dancer profiles and cool videos!
How do I get the Bugle?
If you are interested in getting the Bugle sent to you, let us know by contacting us! We'll put you on the list!
Do I have to be an ACU Student?
No! Anyone is welcome to join. Non-students may have to pay a $5.00 fee to enter the Rec Center.
Do I have to say yes to every dance?
Absolutely not! If you are tired, uncomfortable, or choose not to dance for any other reason, you do not have to accept a dance. It is important, however, to be kind and respectful when saying no to a dance. Phrases like "No thank you" or "How about the next song?" are acceptable. Remember that if someone turns down a dance, they should also be respected.
Do I need a partner?
No partners required! You are welcome to bring a partner if you so desire, but know that we will rotate partners throughout the lesson, so you will not remain with any one person for too long.
Do I need experience?
No prior experience necessary! Everyone starts out in beginner classes (regardless of experience) where we teach the basic steps and moves. Those with experience are encouraged to try the Gauntlet.
How do I become an Intermediate?
Everyone starts out in beginner classes (regardless of experience) where we teach the basic steps and moves. When you feel comfortable leading/following these, we encourage you to try the Gauntlet! Those with prior experience are welcome to try the Gauntlet at their first beginner's lesson. If you pass the Gauntlet, you will be invited to attend our Intermediate classes!
